Who are we?

We are Geert and Christa Migchels and we work together on farming convent The Brabantse Kluis in Aarle-Rixtel, near Helmond and Eindhoven.

Farmer Geert started working at the missionaries’ farming convent as the manager in 1994. He also used to run his own dairy farm. After a couple of years, he decided to merge the two companies into one single company, Farming and Missionary Convent Migchels, where he now is the manager. There are around 110 dairy cows and 90 calves on an estate of about 50 hectares.

Hostess Christa was also raised in agrarian surroundings. But she also completed her studies in catering and has worked in various hotels and restaurants.
In 2008, the vacant ‘long façade farm’ - a typical farm of the border regions of The Netherlands and Belgium - was converted into an inn, now run by Christa. The inn has eight theme rooms, two conference rooms, a countryside shop and a restaurant with a patio overlooking the farm’s calves.

We have two children, Tinka and Krijn, who are the cheerful note and a constant source of various fun at home and on the farm!

The missionaries are also still involved in the farming convent. For example, every morning, Sr Macaria prepares a wonderful breakfast at the farm and Sr Sarto helps out with the company’s administration. Many of the convent’s missionaries are originally from Germany or Austria, so don’t be surprised when you hear them speaking German in yard.
